The Great Tokaj Wine Auction, organized for the fourth time as part of the Tokaj Spring series of events, was a resounding success. Grand Tokaj was also represented at the auction where lots from both established and young emerging winemakers were presented. In total, 28 wines from 19 wineries went under the hammer, including our excellent lot, Tokaj Kővágó Furmint 2015.

Hungary's largest state-owned winery, formerly known as Tokaj Trading House, decided to continue its operations under the name Grand Tokaj. Committed to making quality wines from 2013, the winery will be the official wine sponsor of the European finals of the prestigious Bocuse d'Or cookery competition to be organized in Budapest. Tokaj Trading House Concludes Contracts with Farmers Earlier Than Ever

Tokaj Trading House informed its partners of its new procurement prices and concept for 2016 earlier than ever before, last December. The signing of contracts with both existing and new partners began in mid-February of the year and is expected to be completed by the end of March. Based on Tokaj Trading House’s pioneering practice, farmers now will already know whether to concentrate on an early or late harvest. As part of the contracting process, the winery used its self-developed complex survey of cultivating potential and the condition of existing vineyards to select its partners and determine the cultivation categories in which it awaits grape deliveries.
